Icon5 Price is way too high for what you get...

I went and checked one out at my local dealer here in SD and I am impressed with the styling and the size of the car, it just seems fat to me! As far as the price, that is where I draw the line.

I am not going to pay a $2500 "limited availability" markup fee to buy this car. The CRZ EX model I saw didn't even have Navi and it was at $25,000 plus tax!!!

I would like to get a CRZ for my wife, just an EX model without navi and I don't want to pay more than 20k out the door with tax and handling included.

Now I just have to test drive a 6 speed version to make my final decision to get a CRZ or another Fit Sport...

There is not some huge $4000 markup that allows the dealer to sell a car under invoice plus eat the taxes and licence and stay in business. If you don't want to pay over 20k on the road, the CRZ is not for you. Try a fit.

If you are willing to make a trip, the dealership here in Norman has had 3 on the lot since they got them a few weeks ago. I didn't see anything about a mark-up on the sticker.

Thank you for your inspiring response. I already have a 2008 Fit Sport which I paid under invoice price when I bought it back in March of 2008.

If you really knew how car dealerships work, a majority of them have a "built in profit" directly from the manufacturer anywhere from $600 to $1300 per vehicle. That is not including any markup that they decide to tack on due to the availability of the vehicle.

Thanks for playing.

I've worked for dealerships for 15 years and Honda the past 8. I also was one the first to drive a US spec pre production CRZ. I believe I know a little bit more than you on the subject.

Just because you got a model going out of production 2 months before the new one was released at a good price doesn't mean the same applies to the CRZ. Not only are they not being produced in the same numbers as the fit, they are brand new and in demand, and there is almost zero front end gross on them which means no wiggle room on the price.

Also models going out in a few months have good dealer cash, which the fit did at that time and which means they didn't sell to you for under invoice. You just think you got it under invoice.

Oh well, thanks for playing.

Thanks for the education and for letting us know that you work for the dealerships. Seems pretty convenient that you would be jockeying for the dealers making money over us petty comsumers trying to save some money. Home team advantage right? Damn that "holdback" that you dealerships get and we dont...

Waiting for Bisi now... back on topic...
