ok a few friends of mine have been doing some talking to get a friend of mine a motor cheap. with all the parts we have we can build one and it be $300 out of pocket for the guy. My question is are the crankshafts the same in a d15b7, d16z6, d16y7, and d16y8 motor. we think they may be the same except rod height and piston differences. i have put a y8 crank and rods in a y7 block before. the main thing i am wondering is if we used a low mileage d15b7 crank, y8 rods and pistons inside a y8 block. we could use the crankshaft holder from eithe the b7 or the y8, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone. I recently built my GSR motor for turbo. Built GSR bottom end, Built B16 head, 880cc Injectors, Turbonetics Turbo, Ramhorn, 3 Bar GM Map Sensor,, blah blah blah.

Well I just tried to start the motor today and the motor seems to crank over just fine but does not start. I double checked timing marks and they are on TDC, Double check the 3 bar map sensor wiring, I checked to see if spark is going to cylinders and is perfect. Firing order is on point aswell. Seems like a Timing issue but it is on TDC. I'm stumped?!?!

It does not start at all and I think it might possibly be a bad resistor box. Does anyone know how to check one besides installing it on a running car that uses one?

I also had my basemap chip made by Phearable.net. Not sure if maybe that could be the problem, I emailed him already about my situation.

I would just like to know if anyone else has had a similiar problem and could enlighten me on some ideas of what it could be.

Thanks

Alright i picked up a b18c1 to put in my 99 civic.

The seller said its obd2 but upon inspection i believe it is obd1 because there is no Crank position sensor mounted near the oil pump, but it has an OBD2 distributor, OBD2 Injectors and im assuming OBD2 sensors.

The plan is to install the engine in my 99 civic dx using a 2000 civic si engine harness, and converting the car to obd1 using a chipped p28 ecu or a obd1 gsr ecu.

Question is, if running a obd1 gsr ecu or chipped p28 ecu do i still have to do the ckf trick or is that only when running obd2? Also what other wire modifications/tricks are needed besides wiring in the vtec pressure switch?

Any help is greatly appreciated, im quite stumped on what to do..

Hey guys. Perhaps somebody can help me out with a few issues. I have a '90 STD hatch with a B20/VTEC and a CTR trans. I am using a P28 with Hondata so I have the OBD1 jumper harness already. However, I am having a few problems...

The first problem is that I modified the DPFI harness but I have completely forgotten whether or not I switched around the green/white and yellow/white wires on the TPS plug. Here's a pic of what I have right now:

The second problem is that I have 2 extra wires on my driver side shock tower harness: A black/yellow wire and an orange one. Those wires are missing on the engine harness. I remember eliminating two wires for a DPFI plug. Are these the 2?

Problem #3: In the second pic above you can see a yellow/black wire coming into the harness. This wire goes to my union box (not shown) for injector power for the 4 injectors. Ben's resource says there are two wires. I have only one.

The last problems that I am having are with the last connector in this next pic (the one disconnected):

Inside the connector there is a large male spade. I believe it may be my white O2 sensor wire. Can anyone confirm? As far as the other plugs go, I THINK I have them plugged into the right spot. I am referring to the 2 plugs in the head and the spade connector on the starter. Those aside, I have 2 sensors on my motor still disconnected... the coolant sensor on my waterneck and my oxygen sensor. The coolant sensor is a 2-wire plug and the oxygen sensor requires some wires from my jumper harness. You can also see two wires hanging with bullet connectors on them. I believe these go to my transmission, but as you can see, the 2 wires on the back-up sensor are the same color going in to the plug. So which wire goes where? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i have been having some exhaust problems aswell. I have 3" Kteller exhaust from header back. The muffler pipe is rubbing on my sway bar end link and this is when the car is off the ground. When we lower it the exhast scrapes on the endlink. I dont think the exhuast is at the right angle so i gotta take it back to the exhaust shop to fix that. Even if that gets fixed there is still no room to put the magnaflow muffler kteller sold to me part # 14219 its 5"x8".
